Convergent Networks

What it does | How it works | Benefits of the technology | Details

What it does.

As the advanced core of the Versatile Telecommunications Unit (VTU), the VTU switch supports the requirements and building of the next generation data network, including support for convergence applications, data/voice/video and IP Networks, using a wide variety of media, protocols and industry standards.

How it works.

The Convergence Switch forms the core of the converged network, and offers an unrivaled combination of capacity and scalability in an extensive, fault-tolerant architecture with redundant controllers and power supplies, resulting in no single point of failure.

Benefits of the technology

Gigabit-Scaled Campus Networking
As a part of the EMW family of LAN switching products and networking management, the VTU Switch support the requirements and building of the next generation data network, including support for convergence applications, data/voice/video, and IP networks. This enables more bandwidth, elimination of bottle-necks, better and easier manageability, and dependable multimedia support. EMW's VTU Switch offers an unrivaled combination of capacity and scalability in an extensive, top-to- bottom, fault-tolerant architecture with no single point of failure and advanced Class of Service/Quality of Service (CoS/QoS) features. With the 55 gigabits per second (Gbps) backplane switching capacity, the VTU Switch satisfies the demanding requirements of a bandwidth-starved campus.
